In collaboration with our specialist plantation partner Bamboo logic EU and in conjunction with INBAR, International Bamboo and Rattan organisation EcoMatPro has developed a specific Natural Carbon Sink Solution, delivering our full product range of decking / cladding harvested as a unique “grown for your project” status, with the benefits of Gold Standard VCU carbon credits returned to funders.

EcoMatPro® plantations elevate our climate targets taking ownership, exploiting our GHG carbon storage and capture opportunities. Maximizing our capabilities to enhance and elevate our Carbon Capture Storage through the EcoMatPro plantation initiative.

EcoMatPro cultivates a specific non-invasive clumping bamboo species, nurtured from our specialist tissue culture laboratories. Harvesting the parent culms while retaining 20% of the semi-mature poles, maintaining a highly effective carbon sink at 70% efficiency during the entire mature harvesting period. During the repetitive growth cycles the bamboo forest ecosystem increases in both above and below ground carbon sequestration and storage. At this point, the bamboo plantation becomes a permanent sink, with a lifetime of >60 years. Our cultivated plantation is extremely effective, the clumping characteristic delivers a 3 fold increase in CCS over the traditional singular culm varieties.

Chips during manufacture are processed into bio char providing very valuable fuel and mitigating deforestation, while finished product end-of-life disposal by chipping and incineration powers our production factory or returns as  compost and water retention medium in the EcoMatPro plantations.
